How Atkins Performance collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

Atkins Performance is a sport-specific strength and conditioning coaching service operated by Alan Atkins, based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Alan Atkins is the Data Controller for any personal data collected through this website.

2. What Data We Collect

When you sign up or contact us, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Identity data: Full name, date of birth
  • Contact data: Email address, phone number
  • Physical data: Bodyweight, height
  • Training data: Sport, competition level, training history, session frequency, strength benchmarks
  • Health data: Current and previous injuries, medical conditions, whether you are working with a physiotherapist
  • Payment data: Membership type selected. Payment card details are processed directly by Stripe and are never seen or stored by Atkins Performance.
  • Communications data: Messages sent via email or WhatsApp
  • Consent preferences: Your response to content and case study consent

3. Special Category Data

Health information (injuries, medical conditions) is classified as special category data under UK GDPR. We collect this data solely for the purpose of providing you with a safe, appropriate, and effective coaching programme. By submitting the sign-up form, you give your explicit consent for us to process this data for this purpose.

This data is treated with the highest level of confidentiality and is never shared with third parties without your written consent, except where required by law.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Delivering the coaching service: To design, deliver, and adapt your training programme (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
  • Communication: To contact you regarding your programme, schedule, and progress via email and WhatsApp (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
  • Payment processing: To process your membership payment via Stripe (lawful basis: performance of a contract)
  • Safety: To ensure your training plan accounts for any health conditions or injury history (lawful basis: legitimate interests / explicit consent for health data)
  • Content and case studies: Only if you explicitly consented on the sign-up form (lawful basis: consent)

5. Third Parties We Share Data With

We use the following third-party services to operate. Each is bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Your payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe. Stripe Privacy Policy
  • Web3Forms — form submission handling and email delivery. Your sign-up data is transmitted through their service to reach us. Web3Forms Privacy Policy
  • TrainHeroic — programme delivery platform. You will be invited to create your own TrainHeroic account to receive your training programme. TrainHeroic Privacy Policy
  • Meta (WhatsApp) — used for day-to-day coaching support and communication.
  • GitHub Pages — website hosting. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub Privacy Statement

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Active client records: Retained for the duration of your membership and for 2 years after it ends, in case you return or need to be contacted.
  • Health and injury data: Retained for the duration of your membership and deleted within 12 months of your membership ending, unless you request earlier deletion.
  • Payment records: Retained for 6 years as required by UK tax and financial legislation.
  • Marketing communications: Until you withdraw consent.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure: You can ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Right to restriction: You can ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent (e.g. health data, content use), you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Communications containing sensitive health information are kept confidential and not shared beyond what is necessary to deliver your coaching programme.

While we use reputable third-party services (Stripe, Web3Forms, TrainHeroic), no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take this responsibility seriously.

9. Cookies

This website does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics tools. We do not collect any data through cookies or browser tracking.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
