MSc Strength & Conditioning, Loughborough University. Multi-sport athlete. Built this because he couldn't find the coaching he needed as a student athlete.
Alan Atkins — Founder
Alan is an MSc Strength & Conditioning graduate from Loughborough University — one of the world's leading sports science institutions. He founded Atkins Performance to give athletes the coaching he wished he'd had access to as a student.
His background spans multiple sports: volleyball and basketball as both a player and coach, alongside football, rugby, boxing, and sprinting. That breadth of athletic experience, combined with years of independent research and postgraduate study, shapes how he approaches programming.
I have been an athlete for as long as I can remember, and I have always wanted to be elite. It took my degree, my postgraduate studies, and hundreds of hours of independent research to get to a point where I truly understood the science behind athletic improvement.
As a university athlete, I always wanted more from my training. Someone to programme for me — an elite-level plan tailored to my sport and my life. But everything out there was either too expensive for a student, or it was a copy-and-paste PDF that did not account for the reality of day-to-day life: competitions, fatigue, schedule changes, injuries.
I built Atkins Performance to give athletes access to what I did not have. Proper, evidence-based, sport-specific programming that adapts to you — not a generic template that treats every athlete the same. The kind of coaching I spent years figuring out for myself, made accessible to anyone who takes their sport seriously.
